VOCABULARY :
IEEE 1394 - This is the technical term for FIREWIRE. Firewire allows you to transfer data from a device, like a video camera to your computer via a special cable (like USB). However, Firewire is optimized for video and USB is not.

DV- Digital Video, the highest quality consumer format available to create personal movies. Because the movies are in digital form, you can edit them on your computer.

STORYBOARD- A method used in editing where a movie is divided into segments (boxes on the board) and you have different rows for video, audio and effects.
