   SHOWMANSHIP

  TIP:

  • Never over show the pig.  Furthermore, a pig will not respond as well if you are too nervous.

Be confident
Try to avoid getting your pig caught up in a group of other pigs. Design activities to keep pigs active and engaged
Never hit a pig. Always keep your pig in command, but don’t be abusive to the animal if it does not respond. An abused pig will become uncontrollable. Corporal punishment is not an acceptable tool for classroom management.
Never touch the pig on the rear This is unacceptable behavior.. unless you are a pop star pig with a slick lawyer.
Be on the lookout for trouble
 from unruly hogs

Set up classroom rules and consequences for behavior.
Be ready to answer any questions from the judge concerning your pigs

Avoid giving a pig too much authority until they are ready to handle it.
Pigs have a propensity to hog the space of other pigs. This can cause disruption. A seating chart will help you keep pigs organized
Treat your young pig with tender care. Use developmentally appropriate lessons
With good lessons, your pigs will jump through hoops for a grade. Reward your pig with every success

In a good environment with good instruction all pigs can fly and there will be NO PIG LEFT BEHIND. Savor the accomplishments you have achieved
